The City of Millwood is committed to providing safe, reliable drinking water to all citizens

The Millwood water system provides water to all Millwood citizens and businesses. The system consists of three wells, one standpipe tank, and one booster station. The distribution system is comprised of approximately 65,000 lineal feet of water main.

The sole source of water for Millwood is the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, a 370 square mile underground aquifer with a volume of approximately 10 trillion gallons of water.

The City of Millwood proudly serves aquifer water and is committed to the protection of this important resource. The city is a member of the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board (SAJB), a group comprised of 21 water providers throughout the greater Spokane area dedicated to providing safe, clean drinking water.

For more information on the Spokane Valley - Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer and the efforts to protect this vital resource, visit the SAJB website.

2020 WATER RATE STUDY

In July 2020 the Millwood City Council authorized a comprehensive analysis of the City's water and sewer rate structure. The purpose of the study was to analyze the cross-connection program, pretreatment costs, specific user groups based on meter size, irrigation and other variables that may affect service costs.

At the conclusion of the study, staff and consultants presented the findings of the study to the City Council accompanied by options for changes to the rate structure that would more adequately cover the costs related to the City's water service facilities including operations and maintenance, depreciation and capital improvements. On October 12, 2021 the City Council adopted Resolution 20-04 outlining a new water & sewer rate structure with rates that will pay for infrastructure and maintenance with a consumption charge based on water usage. Residential sewer rates were unchanged while commercial sewer accounts saw a $3.00 increase.

A detailed explanation of the new rate structure can be found here.
