LEAF COLLECTION

Leaf pickup season begins annually in late October and runs through mid-November.

Leaf pickup begins on the west side of the City and moves east. No official route is established and office staff is unable to provide precise pickup dates and times.

To assist with leaf pickup, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Leaves shall be raked to the edge of asphalt. DO NOT RAKE OR BLOW LEAVES INTO THE STREET.
  • Rake leaves in straight rows no wider than 3 feet.
  • LEAVES ONLY with no other debris (rocks, limbs, bags, pet waste, etc.)
  • Do not rake leaves between cars, around mailboxes or within 25 feet of an intersection.

In spite of all advance preparations, the adherence to these dates depend on weather. Do not delay in leaf raking as an early winter will result in staff and equipment being re-directed to snow removal.

SNOW REMOVAL

During the winter months the City uses deicer prior to snow events and plows all arterial streets (Argonne, Liberty, Grace, Buckeye and Euclid/Empire) when accumulation reaches 2 inches of snow.  Residential streets are plowed at 4 inches of accumulation.

To assist the plow drivers with a safe and complete plow, the city asks that during snow events all vehicles are removed from the paved roadways. As a reminder, please refrain from parking on city sidewalks. Parking on sidewalks is illegal under state law (RCW 46.61.570) and doing so may result in citations.

Plowing can result in snow being pushed into driveways and onto sidewalks. City plows are equipped with gates that can help prevent snow blocking driveways and are used whenever possible. It is the responsibility of residents and property owners to remove snow from public sidewalks in front of their residence or business.

DO NOT SHOVEL OR BLOW SNOW INTO THE STREET.
